Pet Peeve: this doesn’t have that round shiny thing around the cameras like the S8 does

Great review Juan! It would mean a lot if you could check out my Note 8 coverage on my channel. I compare it to the s8 and see how the cameras stack up!

Would you address the main camera issue with both S8 and Note 8 shooting video (with significant blurring and focus-hunting) on 1080p 60 fps, pls.?

No you can't just piggyback off of the previous review. The software has been improved. The low light performance is better. Try taking a bunch of the same shots on both cameras and you'll see. Please do a proper review of the whole package.

People often forget it's the archer, not the arrow.

I've always loved these in-depth reviews but one thing should be clear, this is one part of a feature-rich device. The average consumer should NOT buy an expensive smartphone for its camera. Take time to learn how to use a camera in the field (bonus for mirrorless). While new tech can often be more capable, the person holding the device is the main factor. And there is a LOT more packed into this device than your ability to take a sharper image of your cat.

Your images look good but still too overstaturated for my tastes. Watched Eric Griffin's comparison with i7p and disagreed with many of her preferences (+ Note8) but it's actually difficult to compare images secondhand on YouTube, there being too many variables to get in the way of the original shots. Don't feel there's that much extra quality to warrant changing my i7p until I can afford an upgrade in 2 years time. Who knows what will be around then!

The saturation is so high that it clipped some color in some of the flower shot shown in the video

Is it actually worth it? I'm planning to ask my mom this for my birthday if ever I become an honor student. But I'm afraid to decide, so far I'm choosing between iPhone and Samsung (as im more familiar with these two)

Camera is disappointing Video recording in any resolution sucks Videos are always jittery, stuttering, vibrated and laggy. Autofocus sucks too. in any slight movement of an object you are shooting makes the picture blurry on that part. I have my little boy moving around constantly and i cant take a not blurry picture of him with note 8. This is not point and shoot type of camera. I had an iphone 6 and believe me it takes much better smoother videos and not blurry photos I hope these are software issues and will be fixed with next updates

Why have the front/back camera icon at the top of the camera viewfinder when you can switch from front to back cameras with your fingers? They should have put the HDR icon there instead of the main camera settings.

You are mistaken. The telephoto is only for live focus, not for the 2x optical zoom. it's for primary also. Note 8 holder here.

Being able to blur the background is a fantastic feature – yes, you could do it in Photoshop, of course, but you'd have to laboriously and carefully trace out your subject. This is a huge time saver.
