I think most comments were just about the age subject and not your videos. If people are still living in a fantasy of the world being ideal, well, you did what u can to snap them out of it. As a none IT/comp person I enjoy your videos.

I agree with "thisisbhm" I would really like to see a video on what should I ask when I get called for a phone interview. I know that some of my questions will be tailored specifically for the company I am applying for but there are also generic questions that can be asked.

Like many people here commented can you make a video SPECIFICALLY for inexperienced developers or freshers who havnt worked for a corporation. How to conduct ourselves in an interview. What to expect . and more importantly what to ask THEM.

well I personally did not thinks many people would respond the way you though with your last video, but i have to admit that i felt the same way regarding the age bias, however being of a business oriented family I understand and have heard many time that no one wants to hire someone after a certain age due to people being set in their ways and in many cases not complying with company protocol, where as some one younger is still learning and will absorb things and comply much easier.

Unfortunately, the absolute truth is "Don't Get OLD! for the past year and a half I've been making 5 to 10 application a week. I will get call backs on about 40%, a really good number. I'll get called in on about 40% of those, another really good number. When they see I'm in my fifties, I can see the eyes glaze over and stuttering and stammering begins. At least they are thoughtful enough to wait till I leave before they trash my resume.

This and the earlier video can be very helpful, especially if we react properly. JImmy is brave to honestly discuss some of the possible prejudices in the hiring process. I believe that the proper reaction to these possible prejudices is to prepare and demonstrate that for whatever particular prejudice is at issue, we present ourselves as beyond and above that particular hurdle. Turn hurt, frustration and dismay into resolve, action, and success. Good Luck; Luck Counts; Make It Good Luck!

I have taught in both India & here. India gets it's students academically farther along sooner than we do here in Canada at least. Most people consider Canada a bit farther along than the US. Indian students I worked with had a harder time working independently of teachers than here in the west. Just my experience though.

Thank you for this knowledgeable video. While some of us will still not change our names, for example, it gives us great insight as to what to expect and also be understanding of the hiring procedures and behind the scene arbitrariness.
